Our Mission Statement

Our intensive English program strives to provide the highest quality instruction in English as a Second Language (ESL), and supportive services to international students while promoting intercultural communication skills and maintaining a school environment that is friendly, welcoming and encouraging.

To achieve this mission, A F International will ensure excellence and integrity in the delivery of its programs by

working with divergent and highly educated teachers;
encouraging challenging learning experiences;
maintaining compliance with the highest professional standards;
developing and personalizing collaborative teaching curricula to meet the individual needs of the student;
developing new courses responsive to student needs;

From A F:

Our Mission Statement has guided us since 1995 when A F International School of Languages Inc. first opened its doors in Westlake Village, California. The letters A and F are the initials of Dr. Andrea Fuchs, the founder of AFI and a passionate educator herself. From a small classroom with initially three students, we have since grown into two locations, and along the way we made many friends from all over the world who joined AFI to improve their English skills and to be part of an exciting, international community in which they learn, explore, have fun and speak English.
A F International is an unforgettable way to experience American culture--and it's the fastest way to learn English! On your first day at school, we test your language knowledge and assign you to the correct study level. From then on, we will assess your progress and discuss it with you on a regular basis. This personal approach means that you develop the language skills you need in a time frame most comfortable to you. At the end of your program, you will receive the AFI Course Certificate of Completion. On completion of a 3-months course or longer, you will also receive the A F International Academic Record.
Our students are among the most successful candidates for the TOEFL iBT. Their results are a tribute to the effectiveness of our Intensive Advanced English program. Our campus in Los Angeles is also an ETS-certified test site for the TOEFL iBT.

Our Philosophy

We believe that personal and academic growth will flourish in a setting which nurtures trust and respect. At A F International School of Languages Inc. we require all members of the school community to act with integrity and responsibility in every aspect of their lives. We also believe that the transmission of knowledge, the encouragement of curiosity, the development of rational thought, and the cultivation of responsible, honorable behavior are the great ends of education.

In considering the needs of an English language institute, we recognize that a school for international students should be unique, in its own philosophy, purposes, organization, and facilities. It should be able to recognize and deal with the challenges of living in a new culture, and to meet the needs of a population that is diverse in background, aspirations, developmental stages, and rates of growth. Our instructional program provides students with opportunities to develop basic English skills and to acquire the necessary knowledge to develop a positive self-image and to foster academic, social, and personal growth. We strive to provide a humanistic, student-centered approach to learning.

Westlake Village and Thousand Oaks

A F International School of Languages Inc. is located in Westlake Village - Thousand Oaks, a town with a population of 117005, midway between Los Angeles (45 km) and Santa Barbara, California. Thousand Oaks is close to the beaches of Malibu (10 kilometers) and the slopes of Mt. Baldy (55 km).

The school is located on the main street, Thousand Oaks Boulevard, in a California-style business complex that includes a beautiful courtyard, complete with waterfalls, pond and even a putting greens.

Thousand Oaks is consistentlyrated by the FBI as one of the safest cities of its size west of the Mississippi. Our residents enjoy an average temperature of 24 degrees year-round that invites them to a variety of activities, including hiking in the Santa Monica mountains nearby, art, outdoor festivals, and shopping.

Accreditation, Approvals and Memberships

	A F International is authorized by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to accept non-immigrant foreign students and issue I-20s using the SEVIS system.
	A F International is fully approved to operate by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education of the State of California (BPPE)
	A F International is a member of the Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages.
	Both campuses of A F International School of Languages Inc. are approved as official Certified Test Administration Sites (CTAS), to deliver ETS's Internet-based TOEFL test and other internet-based tests on a monthly basis.
	A F International is a member of the California Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages.
